Courthouse Gallery Fine Art is pleased to present “Betwixt and Between: Color, Line and Texture,” an exhibition curated by Bruce Brown, curator emeritus at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) in Rockport. A selection of works by 30 Maine artists whose imagery ranges from near realism to abstraction will be featured. All of the artists make special use of at least two essential tools including color, line, or texture —whether they paint, sculpt, or create works on paper.

The exhibition includes such prominent artists as Lois Dodd, Charlie Hewitt, Alison Hildreth, Eric Hopkins, Alan Magee and John Walker, all of whom have had solo exhibitions either at the Portland Museum of Art or the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland.

Among the outstanding younger artists are Anna Hepler, Joe Kievitt, John Knight, Nick Lamia, Kayla Mohammadi, Colin Page, Justin Richel, and Jessica Stammen. All have been featured in significant group exhibitions in various museums and galleries both in Maine and beyond. Brown purposefully curated the exhibition to include significant Maine artists most of whom are marking their Ellsworth debut in “Betwixt and Between.”
